At a workshop this weekend, a fellow yogini offered a story which truly demonstrates the impact of inner work on the outer world.  It is a call to remember that each action we take, each time we are open hearted, rather than armored, strengthens the fragile silk that forms the web of our spirit.

This yogini had struggled with anger and bitterness and had worked hard to be with it while cultivating authentic kindness.  She found herself in the midwest with her father - a right wing republican kind of guy.  He stopped and gave money to a homeless man.  She paused and said, "Wow, that must be where I get it from!"  Her dad turned to her and said, "No darling, I get it from you."

A Community of the Spirit (Rumi)

There is a community of the spirit.  Join it, and feel the delight of walking in the noisy street and being the noise.  Drink all your passion and be a disgrace.  Close both eyes to see with the other one.  Open your hands, if  you want to be held.  Sit down in this circle.  Quit acting like a wolf, and feel the shepherd's love filling you.
